The Green Tea manufacturing facility of Finlay Teas (Pvt) Ltd., situated at an elevation of 1000 metres above sea level in the Uva province of Sri Lanka, was established in 1993 to strengthen the activities of the export arm of James Finlay, enabling it to cater to the needs of its customers who sought a quality Ceylon Green Tea to add to their existing range of quality Ceylon Black Tea products. This transformed Finlays Colombo into a one-stop shop for Sri Lanka’s tea products in the world market.

This also helped towards fulfilling our vision of providing “More Tea for More People in Greater Variety and at Better Value.”

During the first year of operation, Finlay Teas (Pvt) Ltd. concentrated on providing its customers the more popular Chinese style panned Green Tea. Having made great strides in perfecting the technique of manufacturing a superior quality panned type Green Tea possessing a unique Ceylon character, the Company diversified its operations and expanded its production capabilities with the inclusion of a sophisticated line of machinery to produce the Japanese steamed variety of Green Tea – for the first time in Sri Lanka.

The Finlay Green Tea Factory has a production capacity of 600 metric tons per annum with the ability to produce both the Chinese and Japanese varieties of Green Tea under one roof. In recent years, Finlays Teas also ventured into the production of Organic Green Tea, further expanding its product base to meet customer needs.

Finlay Teas (Pvt) Ltd. has distinguished itself as a Company with the certification (EEC) – 2092/1, JAS and NOP from SKAL International, in respect of the manufacture and export of Organic Tea.
